INSIDE THE CLASS

overview
Young women will be equipped to soar into their greatness by cultivating the inner-girl leader!

Girls today feel more outside pressure than ever before. Many girls feel overwhelmed and anxious, unsure how they can become a force for good in their community or in the world. But Nan Ellen Nelson (adj. prof. of moral leadership) has traveled the world and learned from women leaders whose lives are demonstrating that Goodness is again fashionable.

These women are presidents, ambassadors, activists, changemakers, and public servants fighting against sexism, racism, injustice, and discrimination—and they’re winning. Their secret is that they have invested in the inner-journey work of personal change, honed over years of experience, so that they can lead with their personal example of Goodness. As a mentee and friend of these women, Nan Ellen has created a Master Class, to share the lessons she learned with the young women of today, so that they can change the world for good too.

LEADER-GIRLS embarking on A Leader-Girl’s Master Class to Changing the World: 10 Must-Have Leadership Skills for the Next Generation will not only absorb the essential transformational principles and leadership characteristics, but will be challenged by the innovative leadership tools. Nan Ellen targets the internal power and eternal truths that transform a young leader within herself. She gets at the real heart of the matter by looking deep within, empowering girls to lead themselves first in order to truly lead others and impact our world for good. She inspires girls with the transformational leadership principles that if used, will allow them to overcome any challenge and to revolutionize their life and world!

A Leader-Girl’s Master Class to Changing the World: 10 Must-Have Leadership Skills for the Next Generation trains teenagers with goal-setting exercises in order to lead successfully and positively. Nan Ellen’s Moral Leadership Master Class equips LEADER-GIRLS to be role models, changemakers, and game-changers! She empowers girls to embark on a self-awareness journey first. Our exterior life is simply the reflection of the hard work we do to shape our interior life. Therefore, by choosing to model our life around Goodness, girls will soon grow into effective young leaders who can ignite a moral movement to lead her company, community, or country. Maybe even the world!

A Leader-Girl’s Master Class to Changing the World: 10 Must-Have Leadership Skills for the Next Generation includes “make it real” reflective questions at the end of every session. The “make it real” study guide is geared toward launching LEADER-GIRLS into the next level of living the leadership principles. Thus, girls will become stronger within, to become the change they wish to see in the world. At the end of this Moral Leadership Master Class and after completing the “make it real” reflective questions, LEADER-GIRLS will have a leadership handbook tailor-made for them. This handbook will help girls with the specific tools they need to pull out of their own leadership toolbox to continue living a difference, so that they can change the world for good too.

Testimonials

I have known Nan Ellen for twenty years and watched her mature into an intelligent, virtuous, and incredibly compassionate young woman. She is a leader. She is a servant of others which makes her qualified to be entrusted with leadership. She is honest, thoroughly considerate of others, and has a supernatural joy about her. Of course, her deep faith inspires and guides her leadership and service. I first met her through the student leadership forums that she participated in, and later, led. She had the respect and trust of her peers, and later, of the high school and college students that she helped mold. In my time at the White House, I worked with this group, and also stayed in close contact with Nan Ellen. I have had countless opportunities to be with her, both with her family and on other occasions, and I have observed how gifted she truly is. She has many gifts besides a good head on her shoulders and excellent people skills. Nan Ellen’s serenity is worthy of special mention. Nan Ellen has excellent morals and this helps her put first things first. Her love of God, family, and her many friends are evident, and help explain why she is perpetually cheerful.
Jim Towey
Former Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

Nan Ellen Nelson traveled to Israel and Palestine to learn firsthand about the possibilities for peace in the Holy Land. She met with Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Druze peacemakers, and everywhere she went, she made friends. Nan Ellen has a deep and sincere interest in helping to bring people together across divisions of culture and religion, and she has the courage to address issues that are complex and entrenched. She is an outstanding example of how young leaders can begin reshaping our world.

Making Goodness Fashionable

Our exterior lives are simply the reflection of the work we do to shape our interior lives. If you choose to center your life on Goodness, you will make a difference in this world. But you must start by being willing to make these changes in your own life first. Once you do, the experience will be life changing. Your life will be evidence that there is goodness in this world.

Years ago, a student wrote me a letter saying:

Professor Nelson,
Thank you for dedicating yourself to your mission of educating young women and Making Goodness Fashionable again. Please count me in as a fellow member of your mission to Make Goodness Fashionable.

Will you join us on our mission too?

Making Goodness Fashionable: A global movement inspired by goodness and empowered by love—encouraging all people to make goodness a way of life.

About Nan Ellen

Nan Ellen Nelson received her Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Human and Organizational Development with a concentration in Leadership from Vanderbilt University. She earned an Executive Master’s in Leadership with Honors from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. Nan Ellen continues to work globally as she is invited to train internationals such as a seminar she did in Croatia and Macedonia to equip young and emerging leaders in the Balkan region. In addition to her leadership development work, she served as a White House appointee to the Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C. In 2011, she joined the faculty at Georgetown University as an adjunct professor, teaching ethical and moral leadership. The curriculum that Nan Ellen developed was inspired by her passion to empower an emerging generation of leaders who want to ignite a moral movement to Make Goodness Fashionable.
